Philosophy
Natural Horsemanship is a method of training that places great emphasis on the relationship between horse and handler. The techniques were developed through intense study of equine herd behavior. Rather than bully horses to submit through force, a connection can be created with mutual respect and trust by clearly speaking their language. This invaluable rapport is generated through effective release of pressure and by always rewarding the smallest effort. This method will ensure a long-lasting bond between horse and rider, with unyielding trust as its cornerstone.

The Horse
Each horse is unique with its own personality and temperament. Every horse at Kindred Spirits Farm will receive its own specialized training program that will allow for the ultimate path to success. Upon arrival, a thorough evaluation will be done to determine your horse's particular learning style and special requirements for successful training. Our curriculum is founded on three major principles: First, establish control and respect on the ground by reaching the horse's mind. Second, develop a soft and supple horse under saddle through a loose-rein approach. Third, exposure to many different experiences which will lead to a quiet and confident partner.

The Student
Every moment with a horse is a training moment. Horses are constantly studying our behaviors and intentions to determine their own reactions. They can sense every mood we feel, even if we believe it is hidden from the world. Horses require a rawness and realness with every interaction. At Kindred Spirits Farm, we teach our students the importance of effective communication with their horses. Our lesson program is very similar to our horses in training: First, establish control and respect on the ground by reaching the horse's mind. Second, develop a solid seat that is founded in soft hands and quiet aids. Third, exposure to many different experiences which will lead to a confident and trusting rider.
